Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Bison Solutions LLC ("Bison Solutions," "we," or "us"), the Pennsylvania limited liability company that builds BuckBlock. By installing, registering for, or using BuckBlock, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
1. What BuckBlock is
BuckBlock is an iOS app that uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework to apply app-blocking sessions triggered by physical NFC tags. We may also sell branded NFC tags ("Stations") through the site. The service is provided as-is and depends on Apple's platform capabilities.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use BuckBlock. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
3. Your account and data
BuckBlock does not currently require an online account. All app data (name, blocking selections, session history, tag registrations) lives locally on your device. You are responsible for the security of the device on which you install BuckBlock. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from BuckBlock, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Use BuckBlock to interfere with someone else's device or circumvent parental controls set by a guardian.
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the app or its NFC tags as your own product.
- Use BuckBlock in a way that violates applicable law.
5. Platform dependencies and limitations
BuckBlock relies on Apple's Screen Time APIs. Because of how iOS works:
- You can revoke BuckBlock's Screen Time permission at any time in iOS Settings. When you do, any active blocking session ends immediately. We cannot prevent this.
- Apple may change or restrict the Screen Time, NFC, or Universal Links APIs at any time, which may affect BuckBlock's functionality.
- Shielded apps also have their notifications suppressed. This is an Apple platform behavior, not a BuckBlock choice.
- BuckBlock does not claim to be a reliable safeguard against addictive app use for users determined to bypass it. It is a tool to help motivated users build better habits, not an absolute barrier.
6. BuckBlock Stations (hardware)
If you purchase physical NFC tags from us, sale terms and any warranty information will be provided at checkout. Defective hardware may be exchanged in accordance with the return policy published at the time of purchase. We are not responsible for lost or damaged tags outside of that policy.
7. Intellectual property
BuckBlock, the BuckBlock logo, and the Bison Solutions LLC name and logo are our trademarks. The app's code, design, and content are our intellectual property or licensed to us. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use BuckBlock for your own personal, non-commercial focus and productivity.
8. No warranty
BuckBlock is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will block any particular app or category successfully in all circumstances.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bison Solutions LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of BuckBlock. Our total liability for any claim related to BuckBlock is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) twenty U.S. dollars ($20).
10. Termination
You can stop using BuckBlock at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate your ability to use the service if you violate these Terms or if we are required to by law. Sections 7 through 11 survive termination.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Union County, Pennsylvania, for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or BuckBlock.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you through the app or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of BuckBlock after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
